What everyone should know about Registered Nurses

The main role of a nurse is to provide care and provide services that help regain, restore, recover or promote health. A Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional licensed to deliver nursing care under the supervision of a Physician. Registered Nurses perform assessments, implement interventions to be done by a registered nurse and perform tasks a physician directs.

In hiring professional care, it is always best to hire a medical care professional that can perform tasks, identify and understand medical diagnosis.   • Assists with bathing/shower

An RN also performs patient care that includes the following:

  • Monitoring of patient’s vital signs
  • Turning and positioning patients
  • Ostomy care
  • Cleaning equipment used by the patient
  • Keeping daily records of patient’s activities and observations
  • Submitting weekly records to the Registered Nurse Supervisor and appropriate personnel on patient’s condition

An RN also does the following:

  • Assess a client’s medical condition and implement certain nursing measures or perform specific orders made by the physician in order to promote the well being of the client.
  • Administering medications and injections
  • Performing finger sticks and administering insulin
  • Wound care
  • Tracheostomy Care
  • Foley catheter insertion/Straight catheterization
  • Teach family or the client about the client’s diagnosis in accordance with maintaining the highest possible quality of life.
